More about insurance reports.

What is it?

It has become very common for insurers to request flat roof inspections annually, for the purpose of undertaking home Insurance. We have worked with all of the major insurance providers in providing the required reports.

Why is it required?

The reports are requested by insurance companies, for them to ascertain that there are no existing issues with the flat roof(s) prior to them agreeing a premium for your policy. Insurance companies do not want their clients undertaking insurance on a failing flat roof, only to make a claim for its repair/renewal/internal damage later. If the roof is failing prior to the policy being issued, the insurance company need to know, so that they can either request it is repaired, or place a claim waiver on flat roof related claims.

Should I be offended?

No, the dishonesty of others in this situation, is the reason for the requirement of reports.

How does it work

Our surveyor will attend the property and conduct an external (drone or telescopic pole) & internal (typically just photographs, but in some cases also a FLIR thermal camera/electronic moisture detector) inspection. The surveyor will then produce a short report whilst on site, which can be emailed to you instantly in PDF format. Here is an example report: Example Report

What if issues are found? Can I still obtain insurance?

In most cases, your insurance company will still offer you insurance, but will make a note on your policy, that any ingress issues stemming from the flat roof are exempt from a claim. Alternatively, you could have the issues corrected. If you use us to correct the issues, we will provide you with a gift card to the full report cost (£150+VAT), which can be redeemed against the remedial works costs/invoice.
