As a family run company (Father & Son), we have been providing a full range of roofing services to London and Surrey for 34 years.
During Covid-19, Barris Roofing Ltd director Nick Morris was furloughed due to the vulnerable status of his youngest son, who suffered birthing complications in 2019. This provided Nick with the time to research & develop an idea that he had been pondering for a few years prior.. The idea was to provide an expert roofing service focused solely on 3 areas of service… drone roof surveys, electronic flat roof leak detection & cherry picker roof repairs/maintenance. Nick’s targeted each of these services on the below research:
By using cherry pickers to carry out smaller roof repairs, we can save our clients long lead times, scaffolding hassle & most importantly, money!
Cherry picker roof repairs - Nick wanted to provide Londoners (and subsequently clients in London, Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Essex) with options with regards to quick turnaround roof repairs, with low lead times and good value. The answer to this conundrum was to establish a fleet of cherry pickers, giving clients the option to save lead times with scaffolding etc, keep costs lower than platform erection equivalents & to provide a long list of roof repair options available to both commercial and residential clients. This service also proved to be incredibly popular (as you can imagine), and Nick added moss clearing, preventative treatments and roof pressure washing to the list of services in September 2023. The cherry picker services have picked up very quickly, with high street landlords, those with moss heavy roof slopes & those wanting a fresh appearance for their roof, without a full renewal.
Electronic flat roof testing is a relatively sparse service in London.. but it is a sleeping giant. A pulse is passed through a roll out device (shaped much like an old lawn-mower). The device is rolled over a flat roof service, and detects a change in current with the presence of moisture under the surface (up to 6” deep). The moisture affected areas are sprayed with a semi-permanent paint, and a drone maps the roof. The drone map is provided to the client, indicating moisture ingress accurate to sub 5cm of accuracy. The building owner can then obtain quotes to fix/repair/renew only the part of the flat roof that requires work.. needless to say, this can save tens of thousands on a large flat roof.
